As the capital city, there are many ways to get to Wellington. It has it's own international airport with flights arriving every day. Visitors may also like to fly into the other major airports in New Zealand, Auckland in the North Island and Christchurch in the South Island. You can then travel to Wellington by scenic or passenger train, bus, car, or a ferry between the North and South Islands.

Wellington Zoo
Home to a world class collection of animals from at home and overseas. See the brand new Snow Leopards or visit the kiwi house. A great way to see some beautiful native birds without needing to leave the city. You can even organise an up close encounter.

Zealandia
A revolutionary ecosanctuary, this special piece of land is surrounded by a predator proof fence. The native birds have been able to breed and flourish within the confines of the sanctuary, and have now spread their wings and moved out to wider Wellington.
